Yani n Curry
I found the most incredible Indian market near the house the other day. I'd been thinking of stopping by just to check out the spices and smells, so finally last week I did just that. The first thing that I noticed while parousing the spice rack was that the ingredients were really similar to Caribbean flavors. Ground cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and cumin. Lots of okra, onions, tomatoes, curries, stews and bbq. I mean check out that BBQ'd Chicken Tikka I made, it looks almost exactly like jerk chicken. Anyhow, the finished product was a plate with brown rice (not Indian), topped with a Chicken Masala sauce, Vandaloo Okra and Chicken Tikka BBQ. It was yumms! I think I'll stew the Masala a little longer than the hour that I stewed this one. I want the chicken breast to tenderize just a little bit more. Also, I think I'd BBQ only drumsticks next time - its kind of a fun piece to eat along with the Okra and rice stew. Next up - I'm gonna take my shot at Chicken Biryani - the name play is just too good to pass up.
