Nokia N95 (8GB)
I love my new Nokia N95 (8GB). This is one of the coolest gadgets that I've ever used. Okay, so its work issued. But its mine, for at least a year. Who knows, from what I've seen so far at Nokia maybe they'll upgrade me. If thats possible!
Anyhow, this phone is everything the Iphone can do minus the touch screen. On top of the "cool" multimedia features its got rock solid business applications. I've got this thing synced up to my MS Outlook: Calendar, email, email intellisync (pushing work emails to the phone like a Blackberry). I can open up any Microsoft document or spreadsheet and create edits. I've got the phone on auto Bluetooth, so whenever my phone is within a few feet of my laptop it'll automatically sync with whatevers been changed in Outlook. I can also exchange files to and from the N95 and laptop via Bluetooth. A great feature for uploading music and photos.
The fun stuff:
- 3G with HSDPA high speed data, quad band GSM (I think this is primarily an Asia & Europe phone).
- GPRS, EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth, infra-red and USB connects.
- 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera with autofocus, flash and video.
- 8 GB for video, mp3, photos, podcasts, videocasts.
- FM Radio
- The best loudspeakers I've ever heard on a phone.
- Streaming video, youtube, E! channel, ESPN, you name it.
- Google Maps via GPS. In the mornings I hit the "Traffic" button and can view my route to the BART station.
- Wireless Networks are always locked in to this thing. I've got it on auto syn for ATT Wireless LAN, but at home it knows to over ride and sync straight to my home wireless network.
- Serves as a wireless modem for your laptop. I can be anywhere and use my N95 to dial into the ATT Wireless Network. Okay, maybe I'm a little spoiled by the "All You Can Use" multimedia bundle that work has allowed me, but still. This is great for people who have to dial in from the field.
- Lifeblog: A Nokia feature for their high-end phones to sync with a customers blog. I've got my camera with a "Send to Vox" quick button. I can also enter text and write about the photo. I can't wait to take this thing on vacation and send updates in real time. This thing is a multimedia, blogging, web 2.0 BEAST!
